The Finished Project

Barn Demolition 3

Day 3 of demolition was taking out the support poles from the old structure. Matt brought his backhoe to dig out around the poles, and then pushed them over with the bucket.

Gone! The poles were then stacked to be reused later in our cross country course. The broken freezer shown in this picture was also broken into wall and corner segments.

The remainder of the demolition includes further breakdown and removal of the non-recyclable pieces of the freezer, demolition of the hay loft above the shedrow stalls, and removal of nails from the recycled lumber for stall construction. Some of the metal from the freezr will be re-used to build a new grain bin in the north barn.

Construction of the new stalls is set to begin on November 3, so check back for updates!
